College Girls Guide to Working Out

Hello Friends!

Being in college, it is hard to get myself to workout all the time. It’s easy for me to lay in bed and watch White Collar or Grey’s Anatomy while eating my weight in chips and salsa or Sweet Loren’s GF chocolate chip cookies (get them, you won’t regret it).

I know that’s not exactly how you thought my workout post would go, but they’re delicious lol anyways…  I have come to the realization that my metabolism can only get me so far, which means I’ve gotta get more active.

To start off, I have grown up in dance classes since I was about 2 or 3 years old. I danced every year to follow and even competed in jazz and contemporary in middle and high school. However, my favorite form of dance has always been ballet.

In college, I had the opportunity to take ballet as a class, which was awesome.. too bad it didn’t work out with my schedule. So what does a girl do when she doesn’t love the gym and the weather isn’t always permitting? You make your own workout. I love being outdoors and exploring, so hiking is a fun way for me to do that while getting some exercise in.

Another one of my favorite things to do is play tennis. Now, not everyone has time to do this. Not only that, but you also need a partner and the weather has to be nice. Luckily, I have found a quick solution of that. At my school’s recreational center, we have racquetball courts. This is a room where you can hit against the wall. This way, you won’t need a partner if you can’t find one, and it’s inside so it’s for any weather type.

**ALSO, if you don’t have a reliable swing, the ball will come back to you so you don’t need to worry about losing it!

But! Let’s say you don’t want any of this.. you can always go for a run or walk outside, or even on a treadmill if you can find one.  I’ve found that when I don’t want to leave my room, I can even look up a workout routine on Youtube. This could be anything from ballet barre exercises, to cardio, glutes, and abs.

If all else fails, you can’t go wrong with yoga. This you can do in a class or from home. Yoga is a great way to get you muscles loose, which will help prevent injuries, and it also helps to relax you and keep sane. You can do anything from an easy breezy stretch, to a long hot yoga.

If you have any other types of exercise that you love, leave a comment or send me an email! Now get moving!!
